Instagram link tracking, beyond the sent message
See which supported DM links get clicked, who returns and how destinations compare. Turn click activity into a clearer next question, not an assumed sale.
Available free during Early Access. Messaging rules and technical limits apply.
A click is useful evidence. Not a conversion.
Enable tracking on a supported message or product button. InboxLoop creates a contact-associated redirect link, records eligible click activity and sends the visitor to the destination. Review that activity in your automation's link analytics.
- Links created
- 100
- Total clicks
- 42
- Unique clickers
- 30
- CTR
- 35%
35 distinct tracked links clicked / 100 links created = 35% CTR. 7 repeat clicks. All links and clicks in this example fall within the selected period.
Read the metrics precisely
- Links sent
- The current report counts contact tracking links created in the selected period. Creation is not a delivery receipt; inspect execution status separately.
- Total clicks
- Recorded click events in the selected period, excluding events classified as probable bots. Repeat clicks can increase this number.
- Unique clickers
- Distinct linked contacts with an eligible recorded click in the period. This is a contact count, not a verified count of individual human visitors.
- Click-through rate
- Distinct tracked links clicked in the selected period divided by tracked links created in that period, multiplied by 100. It is not unique clickers divided by followers.
- Repeat clicks
- Total eligible click events minus the number of distinct tracked links clicked. Multiple clicks can belong to the same contact.
- Contact history
- Click activity associated with identified Instagram conversations. A forwarded link can still be associated with the original recipient, so it cannot prove who physically clicked.
Date-range caveat: clicks on older links can fall inside the selected period while their creation falls outside it. The current CTR is not a strict delivery cohort and can exceed 100%. Use the date range and underlying history when interpreting it.
Use intent labels as indicators
The current report groups contacts by eligible recorded clicks: Exploring for one, Warm for two, and High Intent for more than two in the selected period. These labels summarize behavior. They do not establish a person's identity, budget, readiness to buy or permission for additional messaging.
Make the next message more relevant
- Choose a destination button in a supported workflow and enable link tracking before publishing.
- Test the complete conversation with a consenting account. Check the destination and real execution status rather than relying on the preview.
- Open link analytics for the automation and choose a useful reporting period. Inspect link-level performance and contact history where available.
- Compare messages and destinations in context. A high click count with no known outcome is a reason to investigate the destination experience, not to report revenue.
What tracking cannot tell you
A redirect does not confirm a completed purchase, booking or form submission. Bot detection is approximate. Shared links and repeat browsing can affect interpretation. InboxLoop does not claim a sales conversion integration on this page. Link-in-bio reporting is also a separate surface; do not merge its page activity with DM tracking as though they were the same metric.
Questions about click analytics
Are these example results from a customer?
No. Every number in the demo is illustrative. No customer identities, messages or results are used.
Does every link get tracked automatically?
Do not assume that every pasted URL is tracked. Enable the link-tracking setting on supported message and product destination buttons, then test the generated link.
Can I use a click as permission to keep messaging?
No. Link activity is not a substitute for messaging eligibility or consent. Platform rules and the permitted conversation window still apply.
